Miután elolvastuk a NOB döntését és annak indoklását, gyakorlatilag védhetetlennek tűnik a határozat. A hivatalos dokumentumban ugyanis az szerepel, hogy Annus Athénban adott vizeletmintái két különböző személytől származnak. Annus megszólalt: tagad és ellentámadásba lendül.
IOC sanctions hammer thrower Adrian Annus for violating anti-doping rules
29 August 2004 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced that hammer thrower Adrian Annus from Hungary has been excluded from the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens in 2004 for violating the IOC anti-doping rules, by ’refusing, or failing without compelling justification, to submit to sample collection after notification”. During the period of the Games, Adrian Annus was tested twice, once pre-competition and once after finishing first at the men”s hammer throw final event on 22 August. Both tests were negative. However, the IOC had reasons to request a further anti-doping control for which it sought the athlete”s whereabouts first in Athens, then in Hungary, finally notifying him on 27 August for an anti-doping control for which he failed to appear. It was this refusal that constituted the violation and thus his exclusion from the Olympic Games (see below). Subsequently, an analysis of the two urine samples provided during the period of the Games showed evidence of belonging to two different athletes, indicating possible tampering. This would constitute an alleged anti-doping rule violation (Tampering, or attempting to tamper, with any part of Doping Control) that the IOC has decided to study further. After having heard the report of the Disciplinary Commission, the IOC Executive Board today decided that Adrian Annus: - - pursuant to Articles 2.3 and 9.1 of the Rules, is disqualified from the men’s hammer throw event, in which he had placed first; - is excluded from the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in 2004; - shall have his Olympic identity and accreditation card withdrawn. - The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is requested to modify the results of the above-mentioned event accordingly. - The Hungarian Olympic Committee is ordered to return to the IOC, as soon as possible, the gold medal and diploma awarded to the athlete in relation to the above-noted event. - The disciplinary procedure will continue with regard to an alleged anti-doping rule violation, pursuant to Article 2.5 of the Rules (Tampering, or attempting to tamper, with any part of Doping Control). - This decision shall enter into force immediately. |
